Drive.co.uk at Abarth Day
Tim Barnes-Clay visited the event at Rockingham Speedway in Corby, Northamptonshire.
The Abarth 124 Rally was among the celebrated cars of the show when it made its British debut at 2017’s Abarth Day.
On Saturday (20 May), the two-up 124 Rally car, managed by Team Bernini Rally, gave auto aficionados the chance to ride shotgun around the track. The 300ps rally machine made its first on-track appearance on British soil and gave guests the opportunity to see the skill of the Bernini rally squad.
Among other draws at Abarth Day, there was an area devoted to showing the marque’s modern motors, as well a zone for classic vehicles. Furthermore, there was a VR Simulator Racing Challenge completing an exhaustive and electrifying programme for Abarth fans.
The day was designed for all auto fanatics, whether they owned an Abarth or not. But those who’d arrived in their own Abarth were allowed to drive their set-of-wheels on the track.
We caught up with the Brand Manager of Abarth UK, Gerry Southerington, at the start of the day on Saturday.
He told us: “This will be a full day of Abarth-style activity for all. I’ve been looking forward to this event, which I believe enables all Abarth fans to get their adrenaline going on the track while sharing the passion for the Scorpion brand.”
Gerry added: “You don’t have to be an Abarth owner to visit these Abarth Days – we welcome anyone who is interested in finding out more about Abarth and its exciting range of cars.”
