Electric Cars quite a favourite subject of mine these days and I always hear the same comments.
- Electric cars will never be popular
- EV cars have a poor range
- zero emission cars cars are too expensive
- EV technology is unproven
- Electric cars can never be responsive or practical
Renault and Nissan with their alliance are seriously developing this sector and the excitement is growing. Nissan have got some great videos out to dispel some of the myths of electric car motoring.
With The Nissan Leaf – Leading, Environmentally Friendly, Affordable, Family Car I believe for many, including myself, electric cars are the future – EV’s are cool, easy, quiet, fun and useable vehicles. If you drive locally, school runs, local shopping, city and town driving they are well suited for you. They are not toys they drive like real cars, their torque and acceleration is impressive and the best but they are incredibly cheap to run and servicing costs are reduced.
There is a neat event ‘the electric vehicle future is here now’ and you can get behind the wheel at the O2 London, 6 – 12 July 2011.
At the 02 you can experience the future and have a go in a Nissan LEAF 2011 – European Car of the Year and 2011 World car of the Year, don’t you know.
Why is the car called the Nissan LEAF, “Leaf stands for Leading, Environmentally Friendly, Affordable, Family Car.”
The Nissan LEAF is a 100% electric, 5-seat family car, with a current range of up to 109 miles on a single charge, The car have a rapid charge which will provide an 80% charge in just 30 minutes. The great thing is there are No exhaust emissions and cost of charging makes the cost of petrol look foolish!

Charging points and locations will become more widespread and more models of cars will be available soon. In the coming years we will see vehicles like the Renault Dezir and Delta Motorsports E4 and other electric cars of all types, then they will become mainstream, It’s time to look at the LEAF and get more into electric cars.
