This new PHEV is the first plug-in hybrid production car from the BMW core brand. Bringing the combination of a combustion engine and electric drive developing a total of 313hp. The cars performance with this new power train is more than acceptable with 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 130mph.
As high as 94.2 mpg can be achieved if your driving needs, are a lot of short journeys. In urban areas there will be no exhaust emissions for distances up to 15 miles using electric power. On longer journeys, driving sensibly, using the engine and electric motor daily commutes of up to 37 miles can be mades with fuel consumption of no more than 43.5mpg.
When the fuel tank is filled to capacity and the high-voltage battery pack is charged, the BMW X5 xDrive40e boasts the X5’s customary long-distance capabilities. For holiday travellers, for example, when it still succeeds in keeping fuel consumption above 25.7mpg.
Charging the car can be accomplished easily using the BMW i Wallbox, which forms part of the package and is installed at your home. It takes 2 hours and 45 minutes to fully recharge an empty battery pack. Other options with domestic home supply charging availability and the use of the multitude of charging locations around the UK. The car can still be driven without electric power until re-charging is possible.
