As it happened, the Skoda Octavia vRS 230 was the third of three fast cars I had experienced in successive weeks. First was the awesome Audi R8 V10 Plus, then a mighty Golf R and then the Skoda. Even with a zero to 62 mph time of ‘as long as’ 6.7 seconds – more than twice the time the Audi R8 takes and a whole 1.6 seconds slower than the VW Golf R – it rather strangely didn’t feel that sluggish by comparison…
