Citroën UK has released the next phase in its Electric Vehicle EV sales and development programme.
- Citroen C-Zero OTR price reduction from £33,155 to £26,216 before £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant
- Government grant reduces OTR price to £21,216
- New Contract Hire rentals from £249 per month over 3 years/30,000 miles
- Enhanced Electric Vehicle Specialist Dealer Network with additional sales & service points in key locations
Supporting the Citroen C-Zero new price positioning, Citroën has confirmed that it will extend its EV Specialist sales network from 11 to 21 dealers. The additional 10 sites will be located in UK cities not covered by the original Citroën EV network. Further expansion is set to continue as part of a staged roll-out as market acceptance of electric vehicles increases and sales volumes grow.
Citroën has also confirmed that the aftersales EV network will be extended from the 11 initial specialist dealers to a network of around 100 locations over the coming months. All of the newly appointed EV service dealers have already received specialist training as part of the DS5 Hybrid4 launch, allowing them to service and repair Citroen C-Zero and future Citroën EV models.
Citroën’s EV range will grow at the beginning of 2013 with the introduction of a new electric Berlingo van, which will qualify for the recently announced extension to the Government’s EV grant, with a maximum of £8,000 support towards the purchase price of electric commercial vehicles.
Linda Jackson, Citroën UK’s Managing Director, commented; “2011 marked the introduction of EV’s in the UK. 2012 will see the market continue to grow as the technology becomes more accepted by consumers, more manufacturers enter the market and the charging infrastructure continues to develop. Citroën has been at the forefront with C-Zero and this latest announcement confirms the next stage in our development plans.”
Motoring journalist and EV advocate, Quentin Willson, commented; “I think this is great news for both consumers and businesses and it’ll make owning a C-Zero more cost effective. I’ve been running one for 6 months and can’t imagine life without it. This is the future for city drivers.”
