This year’s Footman James Classic Motor Show promises to be the ultimate event to share your passion for motoring.
The Footman James Classic Motor Show is be held NEC on Friday 16th to Sunday 18th November.
Spanning eleven halls with an estimated 1,500 cars and 350 motorcycles this year’s show is a must for the Classic Car enthusiast.
Around 250 classic motoring clubs will bring together their best club marques as they embrace the show’s theme ‘What’s the Story?’ As stunning as these vehicles are to look at, they also have amazing stories behind the pristine mechanics and shiny paintwork.
There will also be vehicles that were involved in stories – from the lorry used in the Great Train Robbery to the iconic cars and bikes that have graced both TV and the big screen.
New for 2012 is the Silverstone Auctions’ sale of classic cars, motorcycles and memorabilia. Viewing will take place all day on Friday and Saturday morning before the sale starts on Saturday afternoon. Lots on offer cover a wide range of marques and pockets from a 1972 Ford Escort Mk1 rally car, expected to attract bids of £10-14,000, to a stunning 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 that could cost in the region of £175,000.
The centrepiece of the car displays is the Meguiar’s Club Showcase, which brings together the best concours cars from the club events throughout the year before crowning a winner as Car of the Year.
TV’s Wheeler Dealers’ Mike Brewer and Edd China will be back to host the Live Stage in the car halls, with restoration challenges, game shows, and special guests including TT Rider and motoring fanatic Guy Martin and motor racing icon Sir Stirling Moss.
The impressive Restoration Theatre, which celebrates 15th years of Leeds City College’s involvement with the show, has a team of expert mechanics ready to show visitors exactly how to tackle all aspects of restoring a cherished classic car.
The ‘Dream Rides’ garage is always worth a visit as the great British classics line up alongside Audi R8s, Ferrari Enzos and Bugatti Veyrons, just waiting for enthusiasts to make a charitable donation in exchange for a ten-mile ride as a passenger. Dream Ride organisers The Sporting Bears are hoping to reach its million pound target at this year’s show. On average, 1,000 dream rides are given over the three days, raising in excess of £35,000 for children’s charities.
As well as the impressive car displays, visitors can also enjoy the Footman James Classic Motorbike Show featuring live motorcycle action, stunning bike club displays, a Pride of Ownership concours and a Vintage Wall of Death. Former Top Gear presenter Steve Berry will host the live stage, interviewing special guests of his own.
Across both events, over 500 trade stands sell a wide range of parts, spares, tools, motoring services and memorabilia while the popular Autojumble and Bikejumble are havens for mechanics looking for that elusive motoring component.
Ticket prices range from £18.50 when purchased in advance. For more information on the Footman James Classic Motor Show or Classic Motorbike Show CLICK HERE
