The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power 15th – 17th July
After being overdosed on supercars and classics in the last month with Salon Prive and Goodwood Festival of Speed, here’s another event not to be missed – The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power located in Cheshire. Non-Stop action all this weekend featuring classic and modern racing cars, motorbikes, helicopters, powerboats, the UK’s only British Army combat power assault simulation and a stunning Fireworks Concert. With over 50,000 people attending over the weekend it is bound to one of the best events. The Pageant now in its fourth year has been voted the best tourist event in Cheshire and this year will be better than ever. Crowds will be able to mingle with famous names from the worlds of sport and entertainment, world-champion rally driver Juha Kankkunen, five-time Le Mans-winning racing legend Derek Bell, Olympic gold-medallist Rebecca Romero and comedian John Bishop amongst others.
The Cholmondeley site features a 1.2 mile course for cars to show off their ultimate performance and complete timed runs. This year a 1.3 kilometre Rally Stage has been added which will allow 30 rally cars to show their stuff including a great selection of Group B Cars with Audis Crazy 1983 Quattro there for good show. I am hoping my favourite the Lancia S4 will also be there.
Terry Grant will be attempting to become the fastest four-wheeled vehicle to race around the track on just two wheels in the Nissan Juke.
[portfolio_slideshow]Green Car Guide Live! is a new area dedicated to green performance motoring. The NISSAN Leaf hatchback, VW Blue Motion and the first outing of the 62.8 mpg BMW 520d EfficientDynamics. Other cars to be seen will include vehicles from Jaguar, MINI, Ford, Citroen, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi and Oaktec Honda’s insight Rally Car. On the Chomondeley Track Nissan’s first Electric race car prototype will be charging around.
Amongst all of the amazing cars there will be more than 40 World Famous Classic and Modern Motorcycles with attempts on the course by Britains World Superbike ace on his 2011 ZX10R Kawasaki. Away from the track, there will be awesome water thrills. F2 Catamarans ripping across the Deer Park Mere at incredible speed and seven classes of powerboat competing for Breitling-sponsored awards. The recently launched Bluebird Electric Water Speed record-challenger will be present, together with famous wetbike from The Spy Who Loved Me.
In the air, brilliant aerobatics will be executed by the Breitling Wing Walkers, the Abarth Extra 300 SC high-tech stunt plane and the elegant Redhawks duo. Another favourite will be the 10 replica warbirds of the WW1 era that will fill the sky and complete a simulated dogfight. Helicopter pleasure flights are available and to top it all off the Saturday Night will end with an amazing Fireworks display and Military Tattoo.
