Ford Focus ST Diesel now gets even better

In Ford, Short Cuts by Jonathan Humphrey

With UK sales charging onwards since the introduction of the diesel powered model to the ST line up

With demand split evenly 45 percent choose diesel with 185PS and 55 percent the 250PS EcoBoost model

Early in 2016 Ford is now offering a ‘to-order’ option of a six-speed dual clutch PowerShift transmission, to make the diesel Ford’s quickest ever diesel car.

Almost 6700 Focus ST have been sold in the UK this year, in comparison to 2460 for the whole of 2014. Sales of Focus ST since the first model ST170 in 2002 are in excess of 50,000.

The new Focus ST diesel PowerShift model will accelerate 0-62mph in 7.7sec – 0.4sec quicker than the manual option. It will still deliver low CO2 emissions of just 119g/km with commendable fuel economy of up to 61.4mpg.

Focus ST diesel customers choosing the Powershift option will have the choice of driving in full automatic mode, or selecting gears manually using paddles mounted behind the steering wheel.

A Sport mode is also available on the dash, and offers an even more dynamic driving experience with a sports shift programme that changes up at higher engine speeds and shifts down under braking for enhanced control.

A great car just got better.
