Jaguar Cars, Official Supplier to Team Sky, has handed over two bespoke editions of the Brand New Jaguar XF Sportbrake.
The XF Sportbrakes will play a crucial role in preparation for the prestigious Tour de France which starts on Saturday. Team Principal, Dave Brailsford will be suing the Jaguar XF Sportbrake as the team support cars during Team Sky’s challenge to win the legendary ‘yellow jersey’ of the Tour de France. With Bradley Wiggins as the favourite to be in yellow when the Tour reaches the Paris finale, 2012’s Tour starts with an additional edge of excitement.
The cars feature customised roof racks, race radios, and TVs to follow the action at the front of the peloton, the XF Sportbrake has been developed and adapted in close consultation between Jaguar and Team Sky. This car is an exciting high performance, luxury vehicle that also meets the versatile demands of supporting the team on the road during their racing calendar.
During the Tour, Jaguar will be celebrating its partnership with Team Sky through the release and production of video pieces documenting the life of the XF Sportbrake. The first piece, ‘Ready To Race’ can be seen on Jaguar’s You Tube, Twitter and Facebook channels HERE
In addition, Jaguar’s embedded Performance Engineer will be blogging about his experiences with the team throughout the Tour.
At a recent Millbrook test Team Sky Sports Director, Servais Knaven commented; “From the driver’s seat I have to make all the decisions, and fast. I need a car that can drive in all circumstances and I’m really excited about the new XF Sportbrake. I get a good feeling when I drive it. It’s versatile loaded with nine bikes, there is still space and it looks cool. I’d quite like to take it home.”
