A special commemorative sheet of stamps was issued by the Royal Mail today featuring the iconic Jaguar E-Type, everyones favourite from the sixties.
In March 1961 the E-Type made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show where it stunned the motoring world with its sexy, sleek good looks and 150mph performance. Over time the Jaguar E-Type has become one of the most iconic and desirable cars to be produced. The sheet is issued today and Issued features ten close-up photographs of E-Type cars, alongside ten patriotic 1st Class Union Flag stamps.
The images take me back some years to the E-Type early summer days held at the Prescott Hill Climb near Cheltenham. A good friend of mine Alan Brassington a renowned equestrian artist had a superb Series 1 Roadster in a metallic blue. We gingerly took it up the hill, great afternoons had by all in the early summer sunshine. Fortunately no damage sustained by us although there were alway a few over ambitious competitors.
