I thought things were quiet on the EV front so far this year, myself being a big fan . Some of the first good EV news of 2012 Mitsubishi motors has announced all of their franchised dealers are to become EV Centres from this January following on from Nissans announcement last year.
The New Year sees the centres training personnel and aftersales technicians in all their dealerships. Even more exciting is the arrival of more Mitsubishi hybrid technologies in the UK and finally dealerships offering the public the opportunity to drive an electric car.
Being the first manufacturer in the world to mass produce an electric vehicle and Lance Bradley, Mitsubishi Motors in the UK’s Managing Director, reiterates Mitsubishi’s aim to fully establish the EV and plug-in hybrid technology in the UK market place: “The Pure EV i-MiEV has now been a reality for the last year with lots more new plug-in hybrid technology and vehicles to come to the UK soon. Our dealer network will provide excellent service and be able to offer the best advice to our retail and fleet customers.
NEW YEAR RESOLUTION NO 1 – Drive an Electric car, go for a test drive, test the future.
A great thing is all the Mitsubishi EV Centres will have Mitsubishi i-MIEV demonstrators available for prolonged test drives so you can see what it is like to ‘own’ and drive an electric car in real life. Myself having driven the suspiciously similar excellent Peugeot iOn in the Brighton to Future Car Challenge am convinced for the right type of driving this is the way to go.
