The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has just been unveiled in Tokyo. Mayor of London Boris Johnson was at the Mitsubishi Head Office, showing a keen interest in the boom for Ultra low Emission Cars for use in London.
20,992 motorists have now made the switch in 2015. the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV tops the charts, outselling its closest competitor, the Nissan Leaf, two-to-one.
‘This car proves that the technology is there and I hope it will give great encouragement to the consumer to think that mass production of vehicles like this is now bringing the price down to an affordable level so by 2020 when in London we have the first ultra low emissions zone, cars like the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will qualify.’Boris Johnson, Mayor of London said:Go Ultra Low has analysed the latest SMMT figures and plug-in hybrid sales are up 226.5 percent this year. The trend this year has seen registrations accounting for more than one percent of car sales this year so far. In the same period, last year sales were just 0.44 percent.
