British Gas claims customers will pay from £995 including VAT for the domestic installation of a charging point for their EV. Charging points are more convenient and safer than plugging vehicles directly into home sockets and will reduce the charging time by a third. British Gas customers will also receive three years free Home Electrical Care™ offering the customer unlimited call outs for all home electrical repairs, parts and labour included. They have also announced an EV tariff making it cheaper to charge vehicles overnight.
This announcement follows last week’s announcement by Peugeot and EDF regarding their tie-up over charging for the Peugeot iOn or Citroën C-Zero. Surely with these costs of motoring electrically it could soon become a reliable and cost effective way to travel. All we now need is the VAT on Electric vehicles removed and some sensibly priced cars and vans and I may go for it.
