With over five million car drivers with children, over a quarter of UK drivers are ashamed to offer rides to friends, yet they wouldn’t change a thing
The most popular culprits for making a mess were crisps, drinks, and biscuits. First on the list of the most difficult spills to clean up were drinks, followed closely by chocolate.
Fifteen per cent of parents confess to not always cleaning up after their children, and fourteen per cent say they wait a few weeks before removing a stain.
To assist families in cleaning up their automobiles, Škoda has recruited Dilly Carter, a professional organiser and TV host.
After a lengthy summer holiday, it’s back to school for the kids, which means parents have a lot of cleaning to do. A quarter of parents are adamant about not letting a relative ride in the back of their vehicle, and nearly 10% said they wouldn’t park at work if it meant no one could see the mess it was in.
Some people even considered their disorganised vehicle a badge of glory, even though many others felt ashamed of it. A quarter of those people (25%) stated they wouldn’t change a thing, and almost a fifth of those people (22%) indicated that a dirty automobile shows that the family has enjoyed themselves.
In response to the seeming disarray inside, 27% of parents have expressed a desire to prohibit their children from riding in the vehicle, and 23% have admitted that the resulting mayhem had made them feel like crying. More than 1.12 million drivers were prompted to consider dumping their cars, making their emotions seem mild.
Crisps are the most messy snack food. Drinks come in second, with biscuits that spread crumbs coming in third. Toy slime is among the most troublesome items that kids bring into their parents’ cars, right up there with food.

Drinks were the most difficult for parents to clean up, followed by chocolates and sweets, even though crisps were the most often spilt item.
Škoda has collaborated with Dilly Carter, a professional organiser and TV host, to provide parents some advice on how to clean their unkempt vehicle.
In addition to a trash can that fits in the door pocket, boot organisers, and a new screen cleaner for the touchscreen display in the Kodiaq and Superb, Škoda provides a few Škoda Simply Clever features that aid in the fight against clutter.
“Our cars often end up messy and cluttered when kids are involved,” Dilly Carter said. The children’s on-the-go snacking, accidental drink spills, and the abundance of books and tablets they wish to bring along. Keeping the automobile clean and clear of the things that make us ashamed of its state is easy with a few practical items and some basic guidelines.
Five of Dilly Carter’s best tips for washing cars are as follows:
1. Sort your trash – If you’re embarking on an extended journey, bring a bag to collect all the rubbish in, or utilise the car bins that come with every Škoda model.
2. Get everything in its place and get rid of clutter. Kids tend to leave shoes, wellies, books, coats, and anything else in the vehicle. Boot separators, crates, and netting are ingenious ways to store and organise boots.
3. Use baby wipes to remove any sticky substance or chocolate that may have gotten on your clothing or furniture. It’s essential to act quickly in the event of a spill.
4. Keep your electronics safe by utilising tablet holders in the rear seat. This will keep their hands from getting sticky, protect them from breaking, and divert their attention from more dirty pursuits.
5. Keep cleaning supplies on hand. Messes made by children aren’t the only ones that can ruin surfaces and touchscreens. A microfiber cloth and some creative cleaners can do the trick.
