The Sunday Times have awarded Vauxhall Ampera E-REV another award for its trophy cabinet – Best Electric Car and Hybrid.
The Sunday Times Driving paper’s new motoring section, just launched has published a ‘Top 100 Cars’ section. Judges put the Vauxhall Ampera a clear first in the eco-car group.
‘The Ampera offers excellent and silent performance and all-electric transport,’ said a spokesperson. ‘It’s a brilliant solution. But it’s no less brilliant than the execution of the rest of the car. The Ampera is also a great-looking car inside and out, comfortable being driven on a long journey and easy to understand and operate.’
The prestigious award joins a growing list of accolades and trophies for the Ampera, which reached UK showrooms in May this year. Innovative and genuinely usable like no other conventional electric vehicle, driving the Ampera it has a real-world battery range of between 25-50 miles, after which a small range-extender motor intervenes to provide up to an additional 300-plus mile range. At all the times, the Ampera’s wheels are driving electrically a unique system setting it apart from hybrid vehicles.
UK pricing for the Vauxhall Ampera starts at £29,995 including the £5,000 government grant. Cars are available through the network of 24 specialist Vauxhall dealers.
