D2 with improved emissions and transmission options
The V40 D2 and V40 R-Design D2 now benefit from being available to order with an automatic gearbox. CO2emissions (EU Combined, preliminary figures) are 102g/km (72.4mpg) in the standard and R-Design versions and 108g/km (68.9mpg) in the V40 Cross Country.
Announced at the Geneva Motorshow, the manual versions of the V40 D2 and V40 D2 R-Design (115hp) now come with reduced CO2 emissions, down from 94g/km to 88g/km (EU Combined), which translates into a fuel consumption improvement of 4.6mpg, to 83.1mpg. The corresponding figures (preliminary) for the V40 Cross Country with the D2 engine are 99g/km (74.3mpg).
New T2 engine with 120hp
Available on the V40 and V40 R-Design, Volvo Cars has added a new variant of the four-cylinder, 1.6-litre engine to the range of direct-injected petrol engines. The Volvo V40 T2 has 120hp and 240 Nm of torque. CO2 emissions with the manual gearbox are 124g/km (EU Combined, preliminary figures), which translates into fuel consumption of 53.3mpg.
Sensus Connected Touch – connectivity on a new level
The all-new Sensus Connected Touch enables connectivity and Internet in the car and turns the 7-inch display into a state-of-the-art infrared, beam-scanned touch screen that can be used even when wearing gloves – a world first in cars and handy in winter.
Connection is made either via a car-mounted 3G/4G dongle or the driver’s mobile phone.
The user has access to full Internet browsing (except when driving), Internet streaming of music (Spotify and Deezer), Internet radio (TuneIn and Orange Live Radio), on-line (Google) Map and Search, Embedded Connected 3D navigation with online traffic info and dangerous zone warnings, Free Parking locator, weather information, a number of native and web applications, App Store for new functions and updates as well as a Volvo service locator. It is also possible to share a WiFi network with everyone in the car.
“The voice-activated Spotify is a unique, new feature. You can find the track you want just by saying its name. The voice-activated system works on all music sources connected to the Sensus Connected Touch,” explains Doug Speck.
