Prices start at £32,200 and orders open in October
A2 e-tron replaces both A1 and Q2 as Audi’s smallest car
Four power outputs to choose from, range of up to 401 miles
The new Audi A2 e-tron is the brand’s smallest and most affordable electric car, with prices starting from £32,200 and a maximum range of 401 miles. It will arrive in the UK in early 2027, effectively replacing the A1 Sportback and Q2 as Audi’s entry-level model.
Sitting below the Q4 e-tron, the A2 e-tron has been developed from the outset as an electric car, with a strong focus on aerodynamics, efficiency and maximising interior space. Audi says it is the most efficient production car the company has ever built.
Buyers will have a choice of three battery sizes and four power outputs, with all versions using rear-wheel drive. The most efficient model can travel up to 401 miles between charges, giving Audi a small EV capable of competing with considerably larger electric cars for range.
Audi also promises generous standard equipment, including infotainment and driver-assistance technology normally associated with more expensive models. The A2 e-tron was developed 21 months faster than previous Audi models, using new processes the company intends to apply to future cars.

New Audi A2 e-tron price and release date
The A2 will be built at the firm’s factory in Ingolstadt, where it’ll run down the line alongside petrol-powered Audi A3s. Order books are scheduled to open in October, with the first UK-spec customer cars arriving at Audi dealers in early 2027, although it’s likely that test drives will be available before the year is out.
The firm hasn’t quite finished the UK specs, but has announced that the A2 will start at £32,200, which is more than the cars it replaces, but means buyers can now get an electric-powered Audi for considerably less than the Q4 e-tron, which starts at over £46,000.

New Audi A2 e-tron electric motor, battery and range
All A2s are rear-wheel drive, keeping things simple. However, there are three battery size options and four power outputs to choose from. The entry level 170PS model has a 52kWh battery and returns a range of 262 miles. Next up, there’s a 190PS, 61kWh option, which manages 320 miles on a charge.
The 231PS and 326PS models use an 84kWh battery, offering 401 and 391 miles on a full charge respectively. All models can complete a 10-80% DC fast recharge in under half an hour, making long trip planning less of a stress.

New Audi A2 e-tron design, interior and space
Inspiration from the original A2 includes the e-tron’s sloping roof, while the new car also features simple surfaces, aero-optimised wheels in sizes of 18-20 inches, and tight panel gaps so as not to interrupt the flow of air around the car.
The official drag coefficient figure of 0.24 makes it the slipperiest small Audi on sale. Audi’s Matrix LED lights are optional, while the door handles are small, fully electric wings that you touch to operate, rather than pull.
Inside, the cabin benefits from the car’s 2.77-metre wheelbase – not far off what you get on a larger A5 saloon. Audi has worked hard to offer a range of interesting softwrap interior materials that run from the dashboard into the doors, while a huge panoramic roof is on the options list.
The boot measures 396 litres with the seats up, which grows to 1,336 with the seats down, and all models get LED lighting, a 12-volt outlet and tie-down anchors in the boot. Cars fitted with the 84kWh battery benefit from a 13 litre frunk space under the bonnet, too.

New Audi A2 e-tron technology, equipment and infotainment
As standard, all A2s get Audi's MMI panoramic display. This effectively combines the 11.9-inch digital dials, called Audi virtual cockpit plus, with a 12.8-inch curved MMI touch display. An augmented reality head-up display is an option, as is Audi connected work, which lets you use Microsoft Outlook and Teams using voice commands.
The gear shifter is mounted on the steering column, giving space for two wireless phone charging pads, while the interior also gets integrated Fidlock accessories. These are adopted from the cycling industry, and use strong magnets and locks to let you move things like cupholders, with more accessories to come, to your liking.
A full suite of driver assist systems is also included, so all models get useful tech like adaptive cruise control (ACC), parking system plus, and a reversing camera.

New Audi A2 e-tron trim levels
Audi UK is working on the final specs for cars to be sold in the UK. However, it’s likely that the A3 e-tron will follow other e-tron models with standard Sport trim, then the highly popular S line trim for those who want their car to look a bit more aggressive.
Audi does mention that colour is a big part of the A2’s identity, with Horizon blue, Arrow grey and Pistachio green available on Sport models, while sportier bumpers, high-gloss trim and Intense blue, Daytona grey and Mythos black paint are slated for the S line trim.

New Audi A2 e-tron rivals
There's stern competition for small EVs from the likes of the Kia EV3, which is cheaper and well equipped, while the Volvo EX30 is also likely to be on shortlists. Traditionally, Audi’s smallest car would be a rival for the BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A-Class, but neither comes with electric power, yet.
