Used Skoda Kamiq for sale: everything you need to know
The choice when it comes to smaller SUVs is extensive and the Skoda Kamiq is another contender if you’re looking for a used family hauler.
Skoda has kept things sensible and practical with the Kamiq, and it sits nicely alongside the likes of the SEAT Arona, Honda HR-V or Nissan Juke as an affordable option.
For the exterior, there’s nothing to remarkable in the looks department, but this is a small SUV that’s been designed firmly with practicality in mind. In that respect, the Kamiq just works, with an interior that’s similarly no-nonsense and easy to live with. Four trim levels allow you to match the comfort and kit to your budget with ease.
The main thing is the Skoda Kamiq is spacious, despite the fact that it falls into the smaller SUV bracket. Engine choices are primarily petrol, with both peppy 1 and 1.5- litre options good. Anyone after maximum fuel economy also have the 1.6-litre diesel to consider.
Should you buy a Skoda Kamiq?
The Skoda Kamiq is a prime contender if you want a smaller SUV that’s a little easier to move around than some of those hulking large models out there. It sits in a similar marketplace to used examples of the Volkswagen T-Cross, the Volkswagen T-Roc, SEAT Arona, Peugeot 2008, Ford Puma, Nissan Juke, Renault Captur and Mazda CX-3. It’s therefore got stiff competition.
However, the Skoda Kamiq works on many levels thanks in the main to its spacious, practical interior and general frugalness in the fuel economy department. Pick the diesel variant and you’ll get the best economy on longer runs, but the dinky 1-litre petrol engine proves surprisingly good, especially for shorter around town hops.
If you can afford to, it’s well worth looking further up the trim level spectrum in order to get a little more pizazz. Indeed, the SE and SE L models come nicely appointed with a host of up-to-date kit, while the range topping Monte Carlo is worth searching out if you’re after even more style for your Skoda.

What’s the best used Skoda Kamiq model to buy?
Don’t bother with a diesel unless you cover lots of miles. The 1.0-litre petrol is very good, particularly the more powerful version (which also comes with a six- rather than five-speed gearbox). If you cover a lot of motorway miles or regularly drive outside of town, the 1.5-litre petrol might be a better choice, however.
In terms of trim level, we’d opt for the highest spec you can afford. The entry-level Kamiq S model is pretty basic, while the SE and SE L models tick more boxes for a lot of buyers. Topping the range is the attractive and sporty Monte Carlo, which manages to look and feel pretty flash, but you'll pay a bit more for this.
Used Skoda Kamiq fuel economy and performance
Skoda Kamiq 1.0L petrol: The 95PS base-level petrol engine is adequate, especially if you’re frequently doing around town motoring, but if you relish a little more power you’ll want to move up to the next option. It’ll do up to 49.6mpg too.
Skoda Kamiq 1.0L petrol: The 115PS edition of the petrol engine has a lot more get up and go. It works well when paired with the DSG automatic gearbox too, making driving effortless. Either five or six-speed manuals are also solid too. Expect up to 48.7mpg from this lump or 46.3mpg if you’re going for an automatic.
Skoda Kamiq 1.5L petrol: The zesty 1.5-litre is a sensible choice with decent fuel economy too, with 46.3mpg possible from the manual and 43.5mpg for the automatic version.
Skoda Kamiq 1.6L diesel: This is the most frugal option if you’re aiming for economy with up to 56.5mpg possible, depending on the trim level. Armed with the DSG automatic that drops a tad, to 53.3mpg.
What used Skoda Kamiq trim levels are available?
The Skoda Kamiq is offered in four different trim levels, which means there’s something on the used market to suit any kind of budget. The S grade might be pretty basic, but it’s good enough to get by with although cars are more impressive if you head for the middle ground editions.
The Skoda Kamiq S grade is the most basic edition of the small SUV you can get and as a result the kit and specification is reasonably standard fare. There are 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and black roof rails on the outside. Meanwhile, the interior is decent enough thanks to cloth upholstery a three-spoke leather steering wheel and height adjust driver’s seat. The 6.5-inch touchscreen is workmanlike but there’s Bluetooth and some driver aids for good measure.
The Skoda Kamiq SE is a better bet if you’d like some interior treats, with a larger 8-inch touchscreen improving things somewhat, which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also an alarm, cruise control, rear parking sensors and light/rain sensors. Looks-wise, the 17-inch alloy wheels and body coloured bumpers raise the profile nicely.
The Skoda Kamiq SE L is a step up again, with the benefit of 18-inch alloys, LED headlights and funky indicators along with some chrome flourishes on the outside. The interior is boosted too, with primarily a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster spicing things up. Keyless engine start, dual climate control and electric folding mirrors add to the more premium feel.
The Skoda Kamiq Monte Carlo sits at the top of the trim tree, with gloss black alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof, LED front and rear lights plus cool black lettering setting it apart from the crowd. Inside, the look is similarly special, with ambient lighting, a 9-2-inch infotainment system and sports seat taking it to the next level.

The sensible looks and engines of the Skoda Kamiq means it should be competitive when it comes to insurance. Expect to pay more for the fancier 1.5 TSI as an SE L option, or the Monte Carlo model too, both of which sit into the 19E group.
