Used SsangYong Korando for sale: everything you need to know

The SsangYong Korando might come from a lesser known Korean manufacturer but that can mean this gets you a great deal on used models of this fourth-generation version of the vehicle, now available in the UK.

This car landed on UK shores in 2011 and is still available to buy new, thanks to its successful reception and uptake. As the design makes apparent, this fits into the "soft-roader" SUV category, which means there is plenty of competition out there. This has managed to undercut a lot of the competitors on price while still offering decent features and well-made finishes.

Despite appearing as a softer SUV this still has the power to pull more than two tonnes behind it thanks to a torquey engine that manages to offer decent fuel economy. There are lots of choices from across the years including two or four-wheel drive, various diesel and petrol engines and either manual or automatic transmissions.

Expect to see where savings are made in the basic infotainment system, wafty handling in corners and plenty of hard plastics on the internal layout. Key rivals for the SsangYong Korando include the Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage.

Should you buy a used SsangYong Korando?

The SsangYong Korando is a decent affordable SUV option for anyone who wants a reliable Korean build quality with basic features covered but without too much luxury.

This is in a busy space for this type of car but it stands out thanks to a lot of room inside that makes for a very comfortable experience. This is a wide car which means even in the back there is enough room for three large adults to be sat abreast with plenty of head and leg room. Plus you can recline the rear bench for a rare level of rear seat comfort you don't often see. These seats fold totally flat making for a great loading space in the rear too.

Even the entry level model, after 2014, comes with decent kit including cruise control, heated electric door mirrors, keyless entry, air con, alloy wheels and Bluetooth. The engine in a current gen Korando is a 1.5-petrol or 1.6-diesel with varying output power, which can be equipped with either two- or four-wheel drive and manual or auto transmissions.

The SsangYong Korando comes with a massive seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty which sets owners' minds at ease. It also means these can hold their resale value for a long time representing a good investment in the new used models.
